The crime branch has arrested two history-sheeters, Ajay Rajput and Rohan Rajmal, for breaking into a temple in the Karelibaug area on October 3. Police intercepted the duo in the Harni area following a tip-off.
Authorities recovered cash and coins worth Rs 1,700 from the accused. The pair admitted to stealing two donation boxes totaling over Rs 25,000 from the Ma Amba temple.
CCTV footage played a key role in identifying and tracking the suspects. Both have lengthy criminal records: Rajput has prior involvement in vehicle thefts, chain snatching, and burglaries, while Rajmal has 14 registered offences, including loot, burglary, and assault.
The arrests highlight the crime branch’s vigilance in curbing temple thefts and recovering stolen donations promptly.
