Hyderabad: The Telangana Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) arrested a woman for allegedly transporting ganja worth Rs 8 lakh on Thursday, January 22. She was apprehended while travelling from Bhubaneswar to Mumbai.
The accused, Mamatha Digal, a native of Odisha and resident of Navi Mumbai, was caught at Begumpet, with nine packets of ganja seized from her suitcase.
During interrogation, Digal revealed that she was promised Rs 10,000 per bag by a Mumbai-based drug peddler named Ashok. She admitted that she had travelled to Bhubaneswar on Ashok’s instructions and received the suitcase full of ganja from an unidentified individual.
Separately, a Prohibition and Excise Department team raided a house in Mangaru Basthi, Nampally, and caught two individuals, Ganesh and Sarala, selling ganja in small packets. Authorities seized 1.3 kilograms of ganja from them and a total of 180 packets intended for sale.
Two other accused, Mohammed Sohail and U Seethal, remain absconding as the investigation continues.
Authorities urged citizens to report any suspicious drug activity and assured strict action against traffickers.
