by Ananya Mehta

Two days after 25-year-old Kabaddi player Tejpal Singh of Giddarwindi village was shot dead near the Ludhiana Rural SSP office in Jagraon, police have arrested two suspects in connection with the case.

Ludhiana Rural SSP Ankur Gupta confirmed that the arrested individuals are Harpreet Singh alias Honey from Roomi village near Jagraon and Gagandeep Singh alias Gagan from Killi Chahlan village, Moga. Their third accomplice, Harjobanpreet Singh alias Kala, also from Roomi village, is still at large.

The daylight killing of Tejpal Singh, a prominent Kabaddi player in Ludhiana district, sparked a political uproar. Opposition parties criticized the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), alleging worsening law and order and a “jungle raj” in the state.

Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the attack and are actively searching for the absconding suspect.
