The Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch recently arrested Tejas Waydande (24) of Vetalnagar, Chinchwad, for illegally selling mephentermine sulphate injections without a prescription. Police recovered 23 vials of the injection, valued at Rs 67,000, during the operation at Thergaon Phata, based on a tip-off.

A case was registered under sections 278, 123, and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) with Wakad police. Officer Ambarish Deshmukh noted that Mephentermine Sulphate Injection IP is meant for low blood pressure patients and cannot be legally sold without a prescription. Misuse of the drug can cause side-effects like drowsiness, hallucinations, convulsions, and slow heart rate.

Investigations revealed that Waydande procured the injections from an e-commerce platform, sold them to bodybuilders for performance enhancement, and even supplied customers seeking recreational highs. The accused has a history of 14 criminal cases, including robberies and thefts. Police continue to investigate his network of illegal buyers.
