Tehsil Police registered a case against Aslam Qureshi (55) and Bilal Ansari (27) after they were caught illegally tying up 15 bovine animals at Noorani Ground, Mominpura, with the intent of slaughter. The animals were found in distress, deprived of food and water, and were promptly rescued by police and witnesses. They were later handed over to a local gaushala for care.
The incident occurred on May 7 at around 10:40 AM when police officials, acting on a tip-off during a routine patrol, discovered the cattle confined in cruel and unhygienic conditions. Preliminary investigations indicate the animals had been brought for unlawful slaughter, with an estimated value of approximately Rs 1.8 lakh.
Following the rescue, a case was registered against the accused under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, covering charges of animal cruelty and illegal cattle smuggling. The police continue their investigation.
