Tegan Smith, 20, was arrested in Caerau, Cardiff, after being seen riding an electric bike through a children’s play area in Trelai Park. Officers, who were on plain-clothed patrol in response to community concerns about anti-social behaviour and drugs, became suspicious when they witnessed Smith engaged in a drug deal.
Upon his arrest, Smith was found in possession of £4,000 worth of Class A drugs, including crack cocaine and heroin, stored in various packages. Additionally, he had four mobile phones and cash. One of the phones contained evidence of Smith offering to supply controlled substances since January.
Smith pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including being involved in the supply of Class A drugs and possessing criminal property. He was sentenced on April 8 at Newport Crown Court to three years and eight months in prison.
South Wales Police continues its zero-tolerance approach to drug dealing, stating that they will not tolerate drugs in the community and will target those involved in the supply of controlled substances. Authorities also encourage the public to report suspicious activity, as community involvement plays a vital role in tackling crime.
