LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Three teenagers were arrested early Sunday morning after an attempted SUV theft led to gunfire outside a Lincoln home, police said.
At around 1:15 a.m., a 40-year-old woman reported that three males were trying to break into her SUV parked near 29th and E streets. When she confronted them, one of the suspects allegedly fired a gun at her before all three ran away, according to the Lincoln Police Department (LPD).
Responding officers quickly located and arrested 19-year-old Josiah Cuevas, along with a 17-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy.
Investigators found four shell casings at the scene, as well as bullet holes in the SUV’s fender and near the front door of the woman’s home, police said.
Cuevas was arrested on suspicion of attempted theft by taking over $5,000 and contributing to the delinquency of a child under 18. The two younger suspects were taken to the Youth Services Center on suspicion of attempted theft.
No injuries were reported, and the investigation remains ongoing
