The Khar police have arrested two individuals, including a 17-year-old boy, for their involvement in a series of motorcycle thefts in the Khar Danda area. Officers recovered five stolen Honda Activa scooters valued at over Rs2 lakh.

The arrests stemmed from a complaint by Premdutt Udayveer Sharma, 58, a catering professional living near Shankar Vyayam Shala in Khar Danda. Sharma reported his white Honda Activa missing after parking it outside the gym on the night of October 5.

A police team led by Senior Police Inspector Sanjeev Dhumal and PI (Crime) Vaibhav Katkar reviewed CCTV footage showing two suspects stealing the vehicle. The footage helped officers trace their route and identify them.

Following a tip-off, the police detained the suspects near Pimpleshwar Hanuman Temple in Khar Danda. They were identified as Mayuresh Maruti Nivate, 19, of Santacruz West, and a 17-year-old juvenile.

During interrogation, the duo admitted to targeting older Honda Activa models using duplicate keys. They reportedly rode the scooters until the fuel ran out before abandoning them. Acting on their statements, the police recovered five stolen vehicles.

The operation was executed by PSI Hanmant Kumbhare and his team—Police Naik Kundan Kadam and constables Mahesh Lahamge, Namdev Sawant, Nitin Kolekar, Vishal Bhamre, and Sumit Ahivale—under the supervision of Senior PI Dhumal and PI (Crime) Katkar.
