In a disturbing incident in Madhapur, Hyderabad, 18-year-old Jayant Goud was fatally stabbed in the early hours of May 31 after allegedly refusing to share liquor with a group of youths.
Jayant, who had recently completed his 10th standard and was living alone in Manikonda, had gone out with eight friends to drink and celebrate his mother’s birthday. Around 1:30 AM, three individuals — Ishwar Singh and two minors — arrived on a scooty and demanded alcohol from the group.
When Jayant denied their request, a verbal argument escalated quickly. One of the minors, reportedly intoxicated, stabbed Jayant multiple times before the group fled the scene.
Madhapur police acted swiftly, arresting Ishwar Singh and the two juveniles. Singh has been remanded to judicial custody, while the minors were placed in a juvenile home. Authorities confirmed that one of the minors involved has a prior criminal record.
The incident highlights growing concerns about youth violence, substance abuse, and repeat juvenile offenders in urban areas.
