LAREDO, Tex. — Laredo police have arrested a teenager in connection with the theft of a work truck that briefly crossed into Mexico before being recovered.

The incident occurred on July 22 when officers responded to the 300 block of West Hillside Road after a man reported his pickup truck, loaded with tools, was missing. The truck was locked and its alarm was activated at the time of the theft.

Investigators discovered that the stolen vehicle had crossed the border into Mexico around 5 a.m. the same day. The victim’s employer was able to track the truck’s location using a GPS system.

On Sunday, December 7, 17-year-old Carlos Hernandez Flores was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle. Police have not released additional details about the recovery of the truck.
