RACELAND, LA – Two out-of-state suspects have been arrested in connection with a widespread vehicle burglary investigation affecting several Louisiana parishes and multiple U.S. states.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office announced that Tedgrick Montgomery Jr., 29, of South Carolina, and Sandy Palmer, 40, of Michigan, were arrested in Baton Rouge after a multi-agency effort.

Authorities were alerted to a series of vehicle break-ins around 6 a.m. on April 24 at a fitness center in Raceland. Some of the vehicles had broken windows, and a black SUV seen fleeing the scene matched descriptions from similar burglaries in Terrebonne and Livingston Parishes.

Working alongside law enforcement agencies statewide, detectives tracked the suspect vehicle to Baton Rouge, where local police conducted a traffic stop and apprehended Montgomery and Palmer. A search of their vehicle revealed evidence connected to burglaries in three parishes.

Investigators also discovered that Palmer had attempted to cash stolen checks in New Orleans and Gonzales, and was in possession of multiple blank checks.

Charges and Warrants:

Montgomery faces charges in several Louisiana parishes, including Lafourche, where he is wanted for two counts each of bank fraud, identity theft, and forgery. He also has outstanding warrants in South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, in addition to other jurisdictions like Thibodaux and Terrebonne Parish.

Palmer is facing burglary-related charges in Livingston and will also face fraud and identity theft charges in Lafourche.

Following their arrest, both were booked into the East Baton Rouge Jail and later transferred to Livingston Parish.

Sheriff Craig Webre commended the coordinated law enforcement response, saying, “We hope this case sends a clear message to criminals to stay away from our parish. We will track you down, and you will be arrested.”
