Devon Boyd, 40, a former teacher in Southwestern Ontario, has been charged with harassing a colleague at an elementary school where both worked, according to sources speaking to The Free Press. Boyd was arrested by London police on February 23 and is alleged to have engaged in repeated communications causing the complainant to fear for their personal safety.
The alleged victim is reported to be a teacher at Oliver Stephens Elementary School in Woodstock, where Boyd also taught, according to the school’s website and additional sources.
Efforts to reach Boyd for comment were unsuccessful.
The Thames Valley District School Board declined to comment on Boyd’s employment status, but multiple sources confirmed he is no longer employed by the board. Craig Smith, president of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario’s Thames Valley district, confirmed Boyd is no longer a member of the union.
Boyd’s employment history includes teaching Grade 5 at Sir Isaac Brock Elementary School in London until May 2023, when he was placed on leave amid allegations that included making offensive remarks to students. Notably, he reportedly encouraged a Muslim student to eat candy during a religious fast.
A planned transfer for Boyd to Centennial Central Elementary School in Arva was blocked by parent opposition in 2024, with critics accusing the school board of failing to uphold its equity and inclusive education policies.
The Ontario College of Teachers lists Boyd as a certified teacher since 2011, holding degrees from the University of Guelph and Western University. He is currently listed in “good standing” on their registry.
Boyd last appeared in court on April 28, with the case ongoing.
