The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan Police has arrested two individuals in connection with the 2018 Jail Warder Recruitment Exam paper leak. Among the arrested was Jagjit Singh (37), a project manager at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), who facilitated the leak of the exam papers to an organised paper leak gang. Also arrested was Karan Kumar (36), a native of Bihar.
The investigation began after the SOG apprehended Sandeep Kandiyan, a resident of Sonipat, Haryana, who admitted to meeting with Karan Kumar to obtain the exam’s answer key. This led to Karan’s arrest in Dehradun. Upon interrogation, Karan confirmed that the exam papers had been provided to him by Jagjit Singh, who was working at TCS at the time.
The Jail Warder Exam was conducted in October 2018 by Sardar Patel University in Jodhpur, with TCS overseeing the exam. The paper leak operation came to light after SOG authorities received a tip-off and examined the mobile phones of two candidates who took the exam at a private college in Kukas, near Jaipur. It was found that the two candidates, Omveer and Radheshyam, had received the answer key on their phones the night before the exam.
The investigation revealed that Sandeep Kandiyan had agreed to pay Rs 60 lakh for the leaked paper, but the police were tipped off before the deal could be completed.
So far, the SOG has arrested 19 individuals involved in the operation, including the mastermind, middlemen, and several prison guards. The case continues to unfold, with authorities uncovering more about the organised gang behind the paper leak.
