A 31-year-old taxi driver, Mustaq Ahmed, has been arrested for allegedly murdering his live-in partner, Pooja, six months ago, Gurugram police announced on Thursday. The arrest came after a complaint was lodged by Pooja’s sister at the Sector 5 police station.
Ahmed, a native of Uttarakhand, was apprehended on Wednesday and has been remanded for six days by a local court. His partner, Pooja, 35, was found dead under a bridge in Nadanna village, Uttarakhand.
According to the police, Mustaq Ahmed and Pooja had been in a live-in relationship for two years. The couple had relocated to Gurugram in the latter half of 2024. Ahmed, who worked as a taxi driver in Uttarakhand, met Pooja, a divorcee, in 2022 when he drove her and her mother to a hospital on multiple occasions. Over time, the two developed a relationship.
After moving to Gurugram, Ahmed resumed his taxi-driving job while Pooja worked as a domestic helper. They lived together for two years before the tragic incident.
The investigation is ongoing, and the police are working to establish the circumstances that led to Pooja’s death.
