A taxi driver was arrested in Taoru, Nuh, on Wednesday for allegedly trafficking heroin. Police recovered 380 grams of heroin, estimated to be worth around Rs 55 lakh, from his possession.
According to officials, a crime branch team received a tip-off and set up barricades on the Naurangpur–Taoru road. The suspect attempted to turn his Swift Dzire around upon noticing the barricades, but the police intercepted the vehicle.
A search conducted in the presence of a gazetted officer led to the recovery of a polythene packet containing heroin from the trouser pocket of the accused, identified as Gurvinder, a taxi driver.
During interrogation, Gurvinder allegedly confessed that he had been supplying heroin for a long time in Gurgaon, Rewari, and Nuh, along with an associate named Abid, who has been declared a co-accused. Raids are underway to trace him.
A case under the NDPS Act has been registered at Mohammadpur Ahir police station.
