A woman drug peddler, Taslima Sulthana (41), and her accomplice, Firoz (26), were arrested by the excise department on Wednesday morning with over Rs2 crore worth of high-grade ganja in the coastal district.
Taslima, also known as “Christina” within drug circles, is a resident of Chennai but had been conducting her narcotics business primarily in Kochi, an excise official stated. Firoz, her accomplice, hails from Mannanchery.
The duo was apprehended based on a tip-off after being under surveillance for some time. They were arrested at Omanapuzha Coastal Road in the morning, where the ganja was found packed into three separate packets. The narcotics are estimated to be worth over Rs2 crore on the black market.
According to Sulthana’s statement, the ganja was brought to the state for distribution, primarily targeting the tourism and film industries. She even claimed that she had been supplying drugs to film personalities and mentioned the names of some prominent actors. However, the excise department has yet to verify these claims and will not disclose any names without further investigation.
In addition, Sulthana’s phone revealed several chats and WhatsApp conversations that allegedly involved film personalities, which are currently being analyzed as part of the ongoing investigation.
