In a successful anti-drug operation, Itanagar Capital Police arrested Tare Nyibe, a drug peddler, and seized 9.7 grams of suspected heroin from his possession. Nyibe, hailing from Taliha circle in Upper Subansiri district, was apprehended in a hotel raid on July 10.
Based on reliable information, police conducted a search at Hotel Kosing in Itanagar, where Nyibe was reportedly planning to sell the contraband. The police, accompanied by an executive magistrate and independent witnesses, found 28 plastic vials containing 3.3 grams of heroin, along with Rs. 4100 in cash, during the raid.
Upon further interrogation, Nyibe revealed that he had concealed a larger stash of drugs at his shop in Lobi, Niti-Vihar. Following his confession, police recovered 67 more vials containing 6.4 grams of heroin from his shop.
The raid was carried out under the supervision of Capital SP Rohit Rajbir Singh. A case has been filed under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act, and Nyibe has been remanded to custody. The operation was led by Deputy SP Kenge Dirchi, with support from a dedicated team of officers, including OC K. Yangfo and others.
