IRVINE, Calif. — A 39-year-old woman was arrested after surveillance footage allegedly captured her stealing items from a classroom at an Orange County high school, according to the Irvine Police Department.
Authorities said the incident occurred during the overnight hours of January 17 at Woodbridge High School. Surveillance cameras reportedly recorded a woman entering a classroom, removing several items, and fleeing the campus.
Later that same day, Irvine police were contacted by Walmart loss prevention staff who reported a separate theft incident at a local store. Using the department’s Real Time Crime Center, officers deployed a drone to assist in locating the suspect in the surrounding area.
An analyst monitoring the drone footage recognized the woman as the same individual seen in the Woodbridge High School surveillance video. Patrol officers made contact shortly afterward and took the suspect into custody.
Police identified the woman as Tanya Elaine Marsh, a resident of Anaheim. She was arrested without incident.
Authorities did not disclose what items were allegedly taken from the school or the Walmart location. The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional details were released at the time of publication.
