Two brothers, Tanveer Singh alias Kalu and Bavneet Singh alias Babby, were arrested in Punjab on Monday for allegedly murdering a man during a violent altercation in Simbal Camp, on the outskirts of Jammu city.
The incident took place on October 9 in the Miran Sahib area, where Narinder Singh was reportedly attacked by the two accused and their family members over a personal dispute, resulting in his death.
According to the police, the victim’s wife, Harbhajan Kaur, filed a complaint the same day. An FIR was initially registered for attempted murder, wrongful restraint, and rioting at the Miran Sahib Police Station. After Narinder was declared brought dead at Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital in Jammu, Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was added to the charges.
A police team immediately launched a manhunt and, acting on specific intelligence, traced the brothers to Punjab, where they had fled after committing the crime. Multiple coordinated raids led to their swift arrest within hours of the incident.
The accused are currently in police custody for interrogation. Authorities are also investigating the role of other family members who may have assisted in the assault or helped the duo escape.
The case remains under active investigation as police pursue all leads related to the broader involvement of accomplices.
