Tangerang, Indonesia — Indonesian police have arrested two Chinese nationals suspected of stealing jewelry, precious metals, and cash valued at approximately Rp4.5 billion (US$275,000) from an empty house in Karawaci, Tangerang City, Banten.

Police Chief Sr. Comr. Raden Muhammad Jauhari announced on Tuesday that the arrested suspects are Feng Shangwei (49) and Huang Xiaobo (39). A third suspect, identified as CW (40), remains at large after fleeing back to China.

The burglary occurred on August 25. CCTV footage captured the suspects climbing a fence, breaking into the home, and stealing valuables from the second floor. Investigators traced the suspects to a hotel in Jakarta, where they planned to flee to Shanghai.

Authorities coordinated with Soekarno-Hatta Airport Immigration and Airport Police to intercept the suspects. Feng and Huang were apprehended while attempting to board a flight, but CW successfully escaped.

Police have charged the suspects under Article 363 of the Indonesian Criminal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of seven years in prison.
