TANGERANG — Tangerang City Police (Polresta) in collaboration with Banten Police have arrested EY (28), a suspect accused of committing domestic violence that resulted in the death of his wife, IH (27).
EY had been on the police’s wanted list since August 30, 2025, after fleeing following the incident. He was apprehended on Friday, September 5, at his hiding place in the Bekasi area, according to Tangerang Police Chief Kombes Andi Muhammad Indra Waspada Amirullah.
The domestic violence incident occurred late on Wednesday, August 27, around 11 p.m., at a rented house in Ciakar Village, Panongan District, Tangerang Regency, Banten. Following the assault, EY fled the scene. Residents quickly assisted the injured IH, who was hospitalized but sadly passed away on August 30 after several days of treatment.
Police are conducting an in-depth investigation to determine the motive behind the attack.
EY is now undergoing intensive questioning at Tangerang Police Headquarters. He faces charges under Article 44 paragraphs (2) and (3) of Law Number 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years imprisonment.
