A 19-year-old youth, T Dhayanand, a resident of Woraiyur, was arrested by the Thillai Nagar police in Trichy city for committing two thefts in the same locality on consecutive nights.

The first incident occurred on Wednesday night, when Dhayanand allegedly stole an 8-meter-long copper tube from the outdoor unit of an air conditioner at a residence on Thillai Nagar Fifth Cross. The theft came to light when the homeowner, Rajendra Kumar, noticed the air conditioner was not functioning and later discovered the tube was missing.

The second theft took place early Thursday morning at a supermarket run by S Karthik (34) on Thillai Nagar Fourth Cross. Karthik, a resident of First Cross, reported that a digital weighing machine was stolen when he opened the store on Friday morning.

Both victims promptly filed complaints with the Thillai Nagar police. Authorities reviewed CCTV footage from the area and identified Dhayanand as the suspect in both thefts. After questioning, he confessed to the crimes and has since been remanded to judicial custody.

Police have advised residents and business owners in the area to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity immediately.
