The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of Coimbatore City Police arrested Swami Sunil Das, 63, of the Palakkad-based Muthalamada Sneham Charitable Trust, for allegedly cheating a realtor of Rs3 crore.

According to police, Das approached a 55-year-old realtor from Peelamedu, Coimbatore, claiming that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had sanctioned over Rs3,000 crore to the trust. He said that Rs3 crore was needed upfront for the release of the funds. Das assured the realtor that the amount would be reimbursed once the RBI money was received.

Acting on the complaint, police investigated and arrested Das in connection with the Rs3 crore fraud.
