In a shocking case of premeditated murder in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka, police arrested Sushmita Dev (35) and her lover Rahul Dev, who is also her brother-in-law, for the brutal killing of her husband, Karan Dev.
The crime came to light on July 13, when Karan was rushed to the hospital after allegedly being electrocuted at home. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival, prompting immediate suspicion.
According to Dwarka police, Sushmita initially told Karan’s family that he had suffered an accidental electric shock. But inconsistencies in the story, and resistance to a post-mortem examination by Sushmita, Rahul, and his father, triggered further investigation.
The case took a crucial turn when Karan’s younger brother, Kunal, found incriminating WhatsApp chats between Sushmita and Rahul. The messages revealed a two-year-long affair and a disturbing murder conspiracy. In one message, Sushmita wrote, “Check how long it takes to die after taking the medicine… He hasn’t died yet either.”
Police allege that the duo drugged Karan and later electrocuted him to death. Rahul was reportedly guiding Sushmita throughout the process via text messages.
Both accused have now been arrested and charged with murder, and investigations are ongoing to uncover additional details or possible accomplices.
