The Samba Police have successfully solved a blind murder case registered last year at Bari Brahmana Police Station, arresting two accused and recovering both the weapon used in the crime and the vehicle involved.
The murder took place on the night of November 1, 2024, during Diwali celebrations in the industrial area of Bari Brahmana. The victim, Sushil Singh Manhas (29), a resident of Smailpur in Bari Brahmana tehsil, was brutally stabbed by unknown assailants who fled the scene immediately after the attack. He was rushed to Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Following the incident, a case was registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A dedicated police team from Bari Brahmana Police Station launched an intensive investigation under the supervision of the SDPO Bari Brahmana and overall guidance of SSP Samba.
Through sustained technical analysis and interrogation, police identified and arrested the first accused, Jalil Nutt (25), a resident of Gopalganj district, Bihar. During questioning, Nutt revealed the involvement of a second accused, Mohammad Azad (20), a resident of Sitamarhi district, Bihar.
Acting on this disclosure, Samba Police tracked and arrested Azad from Gujarat. Police said both accused confessed to stabbing Sushil Singh Manhas as an act of revenge, resulting in his death.
Based on Azad’s statement, investigators recovered the weapon of offence, described as a Chinese-made secessior, and seized a scooty (JK02BM 7356) allegedly used during the commission of the crime.
Police stated that further investigation is ongoing to examine additional angles and ensure a watertight prosecution.
