A 35-year-old man, Surendra Mallick, was arrested in Jajpur district for allegedly killing his wife, Pinki Mallick, aged 30. The incident took place in Bausamuli village under the jurisdiction of Bairi police station. Surendra reportedly attacked Pinki with a shovel while she was cooking, causing fatal injuries. Pinki was rushed to the community health centre at Barachana but was declared dead on arrival. The motive behind the attack is still under investigation. Surendra was produced before the local court, which rejected his bail plea, and he has been remanded to judicial custody.
