Surat City Crime Branch has scored a significant victory in its fight against drug trafficking. Acting on a tip-off, officials raided an OYO hotel in the Godadara area and arrested two men from Rajasthan attempting to sell MD drugs.
The seized haul included MD drugs weighing 25.29 grams and other goods valued at Rs2.87 lakh. The arrested men have been identified as Akib Javedkhan Salim Javedkhan and Dinesh Jodharam Jat, residents of Marwar Junction in Pali district, Rajasthan. Mobile phones and narcotics were confiscated from them.
Investigations revealed that the duo had come to Surat specifically to sell MD drugs to local youth. During questioning, they admitted purchasing the drugs from Raju Bishnoi, a resident of Chopda in Rajasthan.
Akib Javedkhan, the main accused, has a known history of drug trafficking. In January 2025, he was arrested under the NDPS Act in Pratapgarh, Rajasthan, and spent four months in jail before resuming illegal sales immediately after his release. A case under the NDPS and Arms Act is also registered against him in Pratapgarh.
The Surat Crime Branch has registered offenses under the NDPS Act and continues its investigation to apprehend his supplier, Raju Bishnoi, in Rajasthan.
