In a significant operation across Assam, police have arrested seven individuals involved in multiple theft cases. Among those detained is Surajit Choudhury (21), a repeat offender who was out on bail just a day before his latest arrest.

Acting on a complaint from Jaiswal Steel Rolling Mills in Boragaon, a Gorchuk Police team used technical surveillance to trace Choudhury to Katahbari. His arrest led to further raids at a scrap yard in Jyotikuchi Dhopoliya, operated by Sanidul Islam (21). Two other accused, Md Anwar Hussain (27) and Md Fajal Houque (20), were also apprehended during the follow-up.

Police recovered stolen items including an electric water pump, 330 kg of electrical wire, 18 small batteries, and an Exide power battery.

In a separate case, Gorchuk Police arrested Bishal Boro, alias Bishal Rongpi (23), from Dakhingaon near ISBT. He was caught with a stolen Scooty (AS01DY1451) taken from near Shankar Dhaba. Boro admitted to the theft during interrogation.

Meanwhile, Dispur Police caught Akhtar Ali (30) from Nagaon as he was transporting ten stolen copper wires to a scrap yard in Nine Mile. A raid at the yard, owned by Manuwara Begum (38), led to the seizure of additional stolen copper wires. Both suspects are now in custody.

Police continue to investigate links between the thefts and other recent incidents in the region.
