Ambala police have arrested two men, Suraj and Naveen Kumar, for snatching a mobile phone using a fake pistol under Parao police station jurisdiction.

The accused, residents of Ambala Cantonment, were produced before a court, which sent them to judicial custody.

According to police spokesperson Mohit, a resident of Ambala filed a complaint stating that on February 7, two individuals on a two-wheeler threatened his brother with a pistol-like weapon and forcibly took his mobile phone before fleeing.

Police launched raids after the complaint, successfully apprehending the accused and recovering the fake pistol, the snatched mobile, and the two-wheeler used in the crime.

SHO Parao police station Inspector Dharambir said, “The accused approached the victim under the pretext of asking for directions, displayed a fake pistol to intimidate him, and then fled. Naveen had a prior mobile snatching case from 2016, for which he was sentenced to five years imprisonment.”
