In a swift breakthrough, the Pune Rural Police arrested Suraj Kumar Harilal Divakar, 28, from Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh, for his alleged involvement in a murder case that occurred under the Alandi Police Station limits.
The incident took place on May 13 at Shri Swami Samarth Industries Pvt Ltd in Chimbali village, where the accused reportedly murdered Vivek Pradeep Sen, 22, also a resident of Chimbali. The altercation is said to have been minor but escalated rapidly.
According to Sub-Inspector Rahul Dhudhmal, the accused attacked the victim with a 6-kg iron candle filter, repeatedly striking him on the head, resulting in his death on the spot.
Following the murder, Suraj Kumar fled the region, prompting an intensive manhunt. Acting on intelligence, the police traced and arrested him in Uttar Pradesh on Monday.
A case has been registered and further investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the altercation and the sequence of events.
