The anti-narcotics squad of the Crime Branch arrested a drug peddler and recovered narcotics valued at over Rs3.4 lakh in Rajendra Nagar on Sunday.
While patrolling near KDK College Road in the Nandanvan area, officers noticed a man acting suspiciously near Hanuman Mandir. When he tried to escape, the team gave chase and apprehended him.
The accused was identified as Suraj alias Navva Gajbhiye (35), a resident of Nandanvan slum. A search conducted in the presence of witnesses recovered 67 grams of MD (Mephedrone) powder worth Rs3.35 lakh, 846 grams of ganja, Rs10,000 cash, and a mobile phone, totaling Rs3.76 lakh in value.
During interrogation, Gajbhiye revealed that he had procured the contraband from his accomplice, the wanted accused Roshan Rohankar (30), also from Nandanvan.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act (8(a), 22(c), 20(b)(II)(a), 29) at Nandanvan Police Station. Further investigation is ongoing to trace Rohankar and dismantle the drug network.
