Panaji police successfully cracked a gold theft case on Sunday, arresting 24-year-old Suraj Dodamani from Karnataka. The police also recovered stolen items worth Rs 3.6 lakh, including three gold chains.
The investigation began after Rajesh Shirodkar, a resident of Porvorim, reported two separate thefts at his shop in Caranzalem. Acting on the complaint, Panaji police registered a case and initiated a thorough investigation.
SP North Akshat Kaushal shared that during the investigation, CCTV footage from the crime scene was analyzed. Additionally, footage from the city’s Smart City surveillance network helped the police team track down the accused. Using local intelligence, the team identified and apprehended Dodamani.
In police custody, Dodamani admitted to the theft and revealed the location of the stolen items. The police recovered three gold chains, valued at Rs 3.6 lakh.
