In a firm stance against drug trafficking, Udhampur Police arrested a suspected peddler and seized heroin-like contraband near Kalra College on the National Highway today.
The operation was executed under the supervision of the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Udhampur during a routine patrol and vehicle check. Suspicion arose when the individual attempted to flee and hide upon spotting the police presence.
Upon interception and frisking, the team recovered 5.78 grams of a substance resembling heroin from the possession of the accused, who was identified as Sunil Kumar, son of Kali Dass and a resident of Satani near the Air Force Station, Udhampur. He was arrested on the spot.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 192/2025 at Police Station Udhampur, invoking Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine if a broader drug network is involved.
The Udhampur Police continue to intensify their anti-narcotics efforts to protect the community from the rising threat of drug abuse and trafficking.
