Delhi Police have arrested three young men for allegedly robbing an ice cream parlour owner in Keshav Puram, northwest Delhi, to finance their Kanwar Yatra trip.
The accused — Sumit (20), Sagar alias Piyush (20) from Mangolpuri, and Vansh Gupta (20) from Khayala — allegedly threatened the shop owner with a knife on June 19 and looted Rs43,000 in cash, an iPhone 11, and several kulfis before fleeing on a motorcycle.
Acting swiftly, police reviewed over 50 CCTV camera footages to trace the suspects. A trap was laid near the Rampura underpass, where all three were successfully apprehended, said DCP (Northwest) Bhisham Singh.
The robbery weapon, the stolen iPhone, and the motorcycle used in the crime were recovered from the trio. Investigations confirmed the robbery was committed to fund their pilgrimage.
