The Nashik City Police Crime Branch Unit 1 arrested Sumit Rajure (24) for allegedly stealing cash and gold jewellery worth Rs 4.5 lakh from his friend’s house in Panchavati.
Police said Rajure had visited his friend Ganesh Shinde’s residence on January 21, claiming to have quarreled with his family and needing to spend the night. The next morning, he left with Shinde, but a few days later, when Shinde’s parents returned home on January 27, they discovered missing cash and jewellery.
Upon questioning, Rajure denied taking anything. Following a complaint lodged by Shinde’s father, the Crime Branch kept watch on his movements. On Sunday, Rajure was tracked and arrested in Nashik, and the stolen 31 grams of gold jewellery was recovered.
The investigation was conducted under the guidance of CP Sandeep Karnik, DCP (Crime) Kirankumar Chavan, and ACP (Crime) Sandeep Mitke, highlighting the swift action and coordination of the police in recovering the stolen property.
