In a significant strike against drug trafficking, the Puri Town Police arrested two individuals and seized 200 grams of brown sugar worth approximately Rs20 lakh during a raid in Neelachakra Nagar.
The accused have been identified as Sukanti Panda, a resident of Neelachakra Nagar in Puri, and Mohammad Sajad from Jaleswar. Both were produced before the court following their arrest.
In addition to the narcotics, police recovered Rs52,000 in cash, a four-wheeler vehicle, and two mobile phones from the duo’s possession.
The operation was conducted under Operation Chakra, a district-wide initiative to crack down on criminal and narcotic activities. Puri SP Prateek Singh, speaking at a press conference, emphasized that the raid was based on a specific tip-off about drug sales in the area.
The police team from Town Police Station executed the bust swiftly and assured the public that similar proactive operations will continue to combat the drug menace in the district.
