: In a significant breakthrough, Samarth Police have arrested 22-year-old Sujal Jitesh Jagtap for allegedly stealing five motorcycles from various parts of Pune, claiming he did it purely “for fun.”
The case began after a local resident reported his two-wheeler stolen from beneath his residence. A case was registered under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code, and an investigation was launched under the guidance of senior officials.
A team led by PSI Jalindar Phadtare, with support from constables Imran Sheikh and Sharad Ghorpade, used CCTV footage and informant tips to track down Jagtap in Katraj. He was arrested and found in possession of the stolen bike.
Shockingly, Jagtap admitted to stealing five bikes for fun, aided by a legally challenged minor. Police recovered all five two-wheelers, which were stolen from areas under the Bundgarden, Kondhwa, and Samarth Police Station jurisdictions.
The investigation was carried out under the leadership of:
Addl. CP Rajesh Bansode (Western Region, Pune)
DCP Krishikesh Rawale (Zone 1)
ACP Anuja Deshmane (Faraskhana Division)
Key personnel from Samarth Police Station included Senior PI Umesh Gitte, PI (Crime) Chetan More, and others such as Santosh Pagar, Ravindra Auchare, Rohidas Waghere, Shiva Kamble, and Bhagyesh Yadav.
Police are now probing if Jagtap is linked to other vehicle thefts in Pune.
