In a continued crackdown on narcotics in Jammu and Kashmir, police have arrested two individuals for drug peddling in Srinagar and Awantipora, recovering contraband and psychotropic substances from their possession.
In Srinagar, Suhail Ahmad Shiekh, son of Ghulam Rasool Shiekh, and a resident of Qutbuddinpora Aalikadal, was arrested at Rajouri Kadal. Police recovered a substantial quantity of SpasmoProxyvon and Tapentadol from his possession—both categorized as psychotropic drugs under Indian narcotics law.
In a separate operation, Adil Ahmad Bhat, son of Farooq Ahmad Bhat, and a resident of Latribal Pampore, was apprehended in Awantipora. Police recovered five grams of a brown sugar-like substance, suspected to be heroin or a similar narcotic.
Both individuals have been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and investigations are currently underway at their respective police stations.
The Jammu and Kashmir police continue their active efforts to combat the drug menace in the region through regular surveillance and community engagement.
