New Delhi/Sambalpur: In a key breakthrough in the Rs20 crore Mannapuram Gold Finance robbery, Delhi Police have arrested four individuals believed to be close aides of Subodh Singh, the alleged mastermind behind the heist.

The accused — Vikash Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar Paswan (both from Bihar), Yash Anand, and Piyush Raj (from Patna) — were apprehended in Delhi and are now in police custody. Authorities say they were instrumental in planning and executing the January 3, 2025 robbery at the Mannapuram Gold Finance branch in Sambalpur, Odisha.

Despite being lodged in Alipore Central Jail, Kolkata, Subodh Singh allegedly orchestrated the high-stakes heist using his widespread criminal network. The suspects reportedly coordinated logistics, execution, and disposal of the stolen gold, estimated at nearly Rs20 crore.

Sambalpur SP Mukesh Bhamoo confirmed the arrests and revealed that 14 pistols linked to the suspects have been recovered. The gold is also suspected to have funded the procurement of these sophisticated firearms.

The arrested men are also suspected of involvement in similar high-profile heists across Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

With a total of eight arrests made so far, the police are now focusing on recovering the stolen gold and identifying the remaining operatives involved in the organized crime ring.

The case highlights the coordination between inter-state police forces and the growing challenge of jail-based crime syndicates.
