A man, Subhash Saha, was arrested for allegedly committing homicide against his wife in the Ahom Gaon Chariali area of Garchuk, Guwahati, on Tuesday. The tragic incident occurred following a heated argument between the couple, who had been residing in the area for nearly two years.
According to reports, the argument escalated quickly, and Subhash Saha, an e-rickshaw driver, allegedly killed his 34-year-old wife while under the influence of alcohol. The victim, who operated a vegetable stall and ran a small hotel to support their income, was found with severe injury marks on her body. After committing the homicide, Subhash fled the scene.
Reports indicate that Subhash later contacted their landlord to report the murder before attempting to escape. The Garchuk police launched a manhunt and apprehended Subhash following a thorough investigation.
The couple had a history of frequent marital disputes, and the community is deeply shocked by this tragic incident. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the homicide.
