In a tragic case of domestic violence, the Kalyan crime branch arrested a man on Wednesday for allegedly murdering his live-in partner in Thakurli, Dombivli. The accused, Subash Bhoir, reportedly attacked and killed Pallavi alias Ragini Rahul Deshpande (38) with a sharp weapon during the night of April 22–23.

According to the Tilak Nagar Police, the victim was in a live-in relationship with Bhoir for about two years. Deshpande, who was previously married and separated from her husband, had two children who remained with their father.

Police investigations revealed that Bhoir had deceived Deshpande by claiming his wife had died, convincing her to live with him during the COVID-19 lockdown. However, tensions arose as Deshpande started pressuring Bhoir to formalize their relationship through marriage.

It is believed that this pressure led Bhoir to commit the crime. After attacking her, he fled the scene. The body of the victim was sent for a postmortem, and an FIR was registered under Section 103(1) (Murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Subash Bhoir was located and arrested on Wednesday. The police are continuing their investigation into the case.
