Jordan Michael Worrel, a 35-year-old strength and conditioning coach with notable ties to Kansas athletics, was booked into the Shawnee County Jail early Thursday morning on suspicion of auto theft and criminal trespass.
Worrel, who previously worked under Kansas State football legend Bill Snyder and at Clemson, Texas, Tarleton State, and Washburn University, was taken into custody around 4:50 a.m. on October 16, 2025. Jail records state he is suspected of theft of a motor vehicle valued between $1,500 and $25,000, along with criminal trespass. His bond was set at $1,500 cash or surety and later posted.
Known in the collegiate athletics community for his perseverance after surviving a serious 2013 hit-and-run accident that caused a traumatic brain injury and multiple fractures, Worrel’s story has been one of resilience and faith. His coaching career spans several Midwestern and Texas programs, and he holds elite certifications from the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa).
On social media, Worrel often posts messages about faith and perseverance. One recent post referenced blessings and “#newwhip,” which drew attention following his arrest.
As of Friday, no formal charges had been filed, with the case still under review by the Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office.
