In a significant victory against illegal narcotics, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Crime Branch arrested Ajay Kumar Parida, alias Raja, a notorious drug peddler from Haldipadia, Bhubaneswar, on Friday.
Parida had long been under surveillance for his involvement in drug trafficking across the region. Acting on reliable intelligence, STF officials conducted a targeted raid, during which they seized 121 grams of brown sugar—a substantial quantity with high black-market value.
The accused is currently in custody, undergoing rigorous interrogation to uncover his sources, distribution networks, and other accomplices involved in the narcotics trade.
Parida has a criminal record spanning multiple offences, including kidnapping, attempted murder, and repeated involvement in illegal drug activities. Despite numerous imprisonments, his criminal behavior persisted. His latest arrest is part of ‘Operation Prahar,’ a concerted effort by law enforcement to dismantle drug smuggling syndicates across Odisha.
Authorities believe this arrest will deliver critical intelligence, aiding the STF in breaking larger drug trafficking rings. Investigations continue as officers work to identify and apprehend other suspects linked to the racket.
