PARIS, Texas (KXII) — A Paris man, Steven Williams, 36, was arrested on Thursday following an hours-long standoff with police at a home on Kessler Drive.

Officers initially responded to the scene in connection with a reported domestic assault. According to Paris Police, a woman claimed Williams had repeatedly assaulted her over several days while armed and also threatened to kill her. She managed to escape the home and call authorities.

When police arrived, Williams refused to surrender, leading to a prolonged standoff. A specialized police unit was deployed, and after several hours, Williams exited the home and was taken into custody.

He was booked into the Lamar County Jail and faces multiple felony charges, including aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a felon.
