Steven Shane Clark has been charged with first-degree homicide by vehicle, a felony, following the death of Crystal Gresham.
Gresham, who worked at Jasper Memorial Hospital, was crossing College Street near the hospital on August 8 when Clark allegedly passed another vehicle and struck her. Gresham later succumbed to her injuries on Saturday.
At the time of the crash, Clark faced multiple charges including Serious Injury by Vehicle, hit and run, duty to stop or return to the scene of an accident, failure to yield right of way in a crosswalk, passing a stopped vehicle yielding to a pedestrian, and DUI involving multiple substances.
Authorities continue their investigation as Clark awaits further legal proceedings.
