Steven Gaskell Arrested After Escape from HMP Sudbury

Convicted killer caught two months after fleeing open prison

An inmate who absconded from an open prison in Derbyshire has been arrested nearly two months after his disappearance.

Steven Gaskell was apprehended by Derbyshire Police in Sheffield on Saturday, following a search that began when he walked out of HMP Sudbury on 20 June.

At the time of his escape, Gaskell was serving a prison sentence of more than five years. His convictions included causing death by driving while disqualified and possession with intent to supply cannabis.

Authorities did not release details about the circumstances of his arrest but confirmed he is now back in custody.
