FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Police have arrested Steven Flores Estrada, a convicted felon, in connection with a shooting that took place on Sunday in Fresno. Estrada was apprehended on Thursday after detectives linked him to the crime.
According to Fresno Police, officers responded to a “shot spotter” activation at Gettysburg Avenue and First Street at around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday. Police learned that Estrada had argued with the victim the day before the shooting, with Estrada allegedly telling the victim that he would return to the house at a later time.
On the morning of the shooting, Estrada showed up at the victim’s house and demanded the victim come outside. Police said the victim refused and asked Estrada to leave, at which point multiple gunshots were heard. Officers arrived at the scene and discovered evidence of the shooting, including bullet holes in the exterior wall of the apartment.
On Thursday, police located Estrada at a residence near Madison Avenue and Maple Avenue. As officers made announcements to evacuate anyone inside, Estrada fled from a detached garage toward a rear alley. He attempted to resist arrest but was quickly apprehended by police and a K9 unit.
A search of the home revealed a firearm used in the shooting. Estrada was arrested and booked into Fresno County Jail on charges related to the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
