MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An 18-year-old Memphis man is facing serious charges after a woman was critically injured in a Whitehaven neighborhood shooting earlier this week.

Stephan Maclin was arrested on Wednesday and has been charged with:

Two counts of attempted first-degree murder

Two counts of employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony

Theft of a motor vehicle, among other charges

The incident occurred just before 7:50 a.m. Monday in the 3600 block of Huckleberry Street, where officers responded to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, police found a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. She was transported to the hospital and remains in critical condition.

According to investigators, a couple was attempting to back out of their driveway when two suspects in a stolen Lexus SUV began firing shots at them. The couple drove off and was followed by another stolen Lexus vehicle.

Authorities later recovered the SUV unoccupied.

Maclin was identified as a suspect and taken into custody as the investigation progressed. The search continues for any additional suspects involved in the shooting.
