On Wednesday, the Namakkal District Crime Branch (DCB) police arrested A. Kalaiselvan, a 43-year-old steel company proprietor from Avudaiyarkovil in Pudukkottai district, for allegedly cheating Rs15 crore.

In 2023, Kalaiselvan was approached by N. Dinesh Raj, a 38-year-old resident of Paramathi Velur in Namakkal district. Dinesh Raj claimed to run a steel company in Irukur, Paramathi Velur, and promised to provide a dealership for iron wires to Kalaiselvan’s company. He demanded Rs15 crore as a deposit, assuring that the amount would be refunded within a year.

However, after the deposit was made, no dealership was provided, and the promised refund was never issued. Kalaiselvan filed a complaint, which led to the arrest of Dinesh Raj by the Namakkal DCB police. Investigations are ongoing to uncover further details of the scam and any additional victims involved.
