EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – A routine investigation into missing items at an Air Force base in Arizona has led to serious criminal charges against U.S. servicemember Staff Sgt. Alexander Renato Young, who is now facing multiple counts related to sex crimes and theft.

Last week, a federal grand jury in Tucson indicted Young on two counts of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of theft of government property. The theft charge stems from items belonging to the Office of Special Investigations (OSI) at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, including bayonets, scopes, and small arms tool kits, which were being sold online.

The investigation began when OSI agents requested a subpoena to identify the individual selling the stolen property. The account linked to the items was traced back to Young, whose credit card and email address were used for the transactions.

When investigators interviewed Young in November 2024, he initially denied selling the stolen items but later admitted to posting them online, claiming he did it “because he was stupid” rather than for profit. The investigation found that Young made $450 from the sale of the stolen goods.

However, the case took a darker turn when authorities obtained a search warrant for Young’s cellphone. In the process, investigators discovered explicit photos and videos of a 14-year-old female, including footage of the girl entering and leaving a shower. The images reportedly showed Young’s face in some of the photos, and authorities confirmed the girl was underage when the footage was taken.

Young’s arraignment is set for May 23, 2025, in federal court in Tucson, with a plea deadline of June 13. He faces serious charges that could result in significant legal consequences. The investigation into his activities continues.

Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, where Young was stationed, is located in Tucson, Arizona.
